Entry is free for Qatar Airways Business Class and oneworld Sapphire/Emerald status holders flying QR. The lesser-known route: economy passengers on Qatar Airways tickets can purchase entry, typically QR 350-450 (~$96-124) depending on the lounge and where you buy (at the door, via «Manage booking», or at check-in). It is roughly double an Al Maha pass — worth it for the food and space on a long layover, hard to justify under three hours.

How it plays out on a real Doha transit

Take the classic Qatar Airways sandwich: you land from London at 11 p.m. and fly on to Bali at 6 a.m. Seven hours, overnight, economy ticket. At the Al Maha desk the honest math says the 6-hour pass covers you almost door to door for QR 270 — you shower, eat something warm, and doze in a recliner until the gate opens. If the same night happens on a business-class ticket, you walk past all of this into Al Mourjan Garden and the question never arises. And if you land at 7 a.m. with a 3-hour daytime gap, the calculation flips again: by the time you have walked from the arrival gate, cleared transfer screening and found the lounge door, a 3-hour pass buys you barely ninety usable minutes — that morning, the free seating by the windows and a coffee do the same job for nothing. The pass prices only make sense measured against your actual usable time, not the length of the layover on your ticket.

Which lounge should you pick?

Any airline, mid-length transit (3-8 h): Al Maha 3- or 6-hour pass. Qatar Airways economy, long layover: paid Al Mourjan entry — the upgrade over Al Maha is real.
