The metro runs Sat-Thu 05:00-01:00 and Fri 09:00-01:00; the Standard card caps at QR 6 a day.

They are the quickest door-to-door way to reach central Doha, about 15 km away (a 15–25 minute drive), and the hotel districts of West Bay, The Pearl and Lusail. There is no need to book ahead, as a car is almost always waiting at the rank; at busy arrival peaks you may queue a little for the next one.
Karwa taxis run on a meter, so the price reflects the distance and time of your journey rather than a flat rate. A separate airport pick-up fee is normally added when you start from the terminal, and there may be a higher tariff late at night. Because the total depends on traffic and your exact address, a useful habit is to keep the destination address handy on your phone and check that the meter is running from the start. A standard taxi seats up to four passengers with their luggage; larger groups or those wanting a premium car can ask about the Karwa limousine service, which is booked at a higher fixed rate rather than on the meter.

Fares are paid in Qatari riyal (QAR). Many cabs now accept cards, but this is not guaranteed, so carry some small notes. Change for a large bill can be scarce, so smaller notes make paying easier. Tipping is not compulsory; rounding up the fare for a helpful driver is a common courtesy rather than an expectation.
