The cheapest ways from Hamad International Airport (DOH) into the city are the Doha Metro Red Line, which has its own station a short walk from Terminal 1, and a hotel shuttle if yours offers one. The Red Line reaches the Msheireb interchange in about 15 minutes for only a couple of riyals.

Travelling on a budget from Hamad International Airport (DOH)? Beyond taxis and transfers, the cheapest ways to reach the city are a hotel shuttle if your accommodation offers one, and Doha's public transport, the modern Metro and the public bus network. The airport is about 15 km, a 15–25 minute drive, from central Doha.

Many Doha hotels arrange an airport shuttle for their guests, either complimentary or for a set fee. It is the easiest budget-friendly option because it takes you straight to your accommodation. Shuttles are not automatic, though, confirm the service and timing when you book your room, and let the hotel know your flight details so a driver can meet you.

The Doha Metro and public buses

Doha has a clean, modern Metro (with Red, Gold and Green lines) and a public bus network that together make getting around the city cheap and easy once you are there. The good news for arriving passengers: the Red Line has its own station at Hamad International Airport, a short walk from Terminal 1, so you can step off your flight and onto a train. It runs straight into the centre, roughly 15 minutes to the Msheireb interchange, and on to West Bay and Lusail, for only a couple of riyals and seven days a week, which makes the Metro the cheapest and often fastest way in if you are travelling fairly light. With heavy luggage or a very late arrival a taxi or transfer is still comfier door-to-door. Check current fares, the station location within the airport and last-train times on metrotram.qa.
